 Ian Milliner
   
Managing Director

Ian has been the Managing Director and Training Manager at TUCF since its inception in 1996. He is responsible for a diversified company that provides an integrated package of marine services which includes a full range of occupational diver training.

Ian was formally the National Manager NASDS, a position which he held for 8 years. He is a former Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diver and saw three years service as a Clearance Diver with the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) in various operational capacities. He holds ADAS Parts 1, 2 and 3 commercial diver and supervisor accreditation. He also holds two Diplomas in Occupational Diving and numerous management, diving and instructional qualifications.

Ian has held a number of senior industry administrative positions concurrent to his work including Secretary of the Australia Scuba Council, National Scuba Qualification Commission and WA Branch of the Clearance Diving Association. He has also been a member of Boating Industry Association (BIA) Boat Show Sub Committee and member Maritime Archaeology Advisory Committee of the Western Australian Maritime Museum

Ian remains the Managing Director of TUCF and is also a Director of Petra Marine Australia Pty Ltd.

 Anthony (Dusty) Miller
   General Manager Operations Support Services

Dusty was a founding director of Contract Diving Services, one of Australia’s foremost commercial diving companies. His experience as a naval clearance diver over seven years, plus his extensive involvement in the offshore and onshore diving industry over the last three decades, make Dusty one of the most experienced diving operations managers in the industry. Dusty has been involved in the commercial diving industry since his honourable discharge from the Royal Australian Navy in 1973.

 Craig Maddison
   General Manager Marine

Craig is a qualified Master Mariner Class 1 and was formally the General Manager of Adsteam Offshore, a diversified company providing marine vessels and crewing services to the Australian offshore oil and gas industry.

Prior to this he held General Manager, Business Development and Marketing roles with major Australian and international marine companies including Tidewater Marine, Australian Offshore Services (now Farstad) and Brambles Marine Group as well as many years of seagoing experience.

 Peter Hill
   QHSE Manager

Peter has 11 years experience in the upstream oil and gas industry including two major projects, security and regulation. He began his career in the drilling industry working both onshore and offshore. Later, he worked on two development projects and commenced post-graduate studies. Peter holds a Masters in Oil and Gas Engineering from UWA, majoring in corporate crisis management.

In the last few years, Peter has worked as an Inspector for DOIR and most recently with the Timor Sea Designated Authority administering safety case jurisdictions. He has investigated a number of major industry incidents and conducted audits of marine facilities and hydrocarbon gathering and processing platforms.

Peter possesses both an academic and working knowledge of management systems. Corollary, he brings a broad suite of skills and experience to TUCF.


   
 

 
 
 Jacky Thiel
   Human Resources Coordinator

Jacky joined the TUCF team in September 2008 as the Human Resources Coordinator. This role is designed to strengthen and structure current TUCF human resources and recruitment processes. Jacky’s role involves a broad scope HR functions initially involving the recruitment of divers across all levels for some major new projects.

Jacky’s HR skills derive from a mixture of substantial tertiary studies and work experience. Her previous position in HR was specialised in recruitment. Jacky was also responsible for the management of subcontractors across a range of different industries including oil and gas, in which she dealt with a number of different HR issues such as industrial relations, performance management, contracts and remuneration.

Her tertiary studies have been focused on communications, psychology and social sciences and Jacky is currently attending university to complete her Masters of Commerce (Human Resources and Industrial Relations). She has a strong interest in working with people and hopes to bring a fresh approach to TUCF’s human resources management.


   
 

 
 Natalie Paulus
   Administration Manager

Natalie joined TUCF in February 2007 as a logistics assistant. Since then she has taken on the roles of Training Administrator, HR Administration and is now TUCF’s Administration Manager. Within the company she takes on a broad scope of work including events co-ordination, such as the TUCF 2008 Safety Conference, which hosted over 90 guests. She is an organised and dynamic manager, who is highly regarded by her team.

Prior to commencing work with TUCF Natalie developed much of her skill and experience undertaking a variety of management positions in retail and hospitality both in Perth and overseas. This included her first management position with Salty Dog Surf Store more than a decade ago and a long held management position at Miss Maud’s Pastry House. She has travelled extensively and completed a Certificate 3 in Travel and Tourism.

   
 

 
 Sergey Usoltsev
   Financial Accounts Manager

Sergey is an associate member of CPA Australia and commenced work for TUCF in June 2007 after completing his Graduate Diploma in Financial Management at the University of New England in 2006.

Sergey holds a CPA-New England Business School Award for Achievements in Studies of the Financial Accounting.

He has strong technical skills and meets strict reporting deadlines.

Responsible for the preparation of accounts, consolidated end-of-the-month reporting, cashflow forecasting, statutory compliance and taxation responsibilities, cost budgeting, project and management accounting, reconciliations, payroll and receivables.

   
 

 
   
 Koh Kim Choon
   Business Development Manager / Senior Instructor

Koh joined TUCF following several years as a Senior Project Manager for Sapura Diving Services in Malaysia where he successfully coordinated and managed commercial diver training by TUCF for the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Prior to this, Koh spent 23 years in the Royal Malaysian Navy responsible for operations, training, administration and supervision of clearance diving units, and as Commanding Officer onboard fast attack crafts.

Koh holds ADAS Parts 1, 2 and 3 and Diving Supervisor accreditations.

His move to Western Australia has seen conducting commercial diving courses for students from around the world as well as developing further business opportunities for TUCF in South East Asia.


   
 

 Eugene Maxwell
   TUCF PSET team leader / Senior Instructor

Eugene (Max) is a former Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diver holding ADAS Part 1, 2 & 3 Diving Supervisor Accreditation and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

As a RAN Clearance Diver for 21 years, Eugene was posted to various ships and operational dive teams across the world. Service included exchange with the United States Navy as a Senior Diving Instructor, Clearance Diving duties with the Special Air Services Regiment, and underwater clearance of mines and ordnance from the ports and coastline of Kuwait in Gulf War 1991.

Currently Max is the onsite representative for TUCF during RAN Pressurized Submarine Escape Training (PSET). Within his role he is responsible for HR management, submariner training and general operations supervision.

Eugene is a serving member of the RAN Standby Reserve.

Dive School


The standard of commercial diver training received at any school is dependant upon the knowledge, skills and experience of the instructors concerned.

 

 Jean Pierre Le Roux
   Senior Instructor/ Coxswain

Jean Pierre (JP) has been working in the diving industry for 10 years. JP started out as a clearance diver in the South African Navy and spent 24 months aboard mine hunter, the SAS Umhcoti.

He then crossed over to Commercial Diving in 2001 working for some local companies in South Africa. JP spent the next 5 years working in the Middle East as a diver and supervisor doing various onshore and offshore construction projects.

JP immigrated to Australia in 2007 and has worked as a Supervisor and skipper for many local companies in WA. Commencing work with TUCF in July 2009, JP is TUCF's Senior Part 3 instructor and brings a diverse diving experience background to the school.


   
 

   
   
 James Wolfe
   Senior Instructor

Jim joined the TUCF team in November 2007 after moving to Perth from the UK. He has been involved in the occupational diving industry since 1992.

Upon becoming a Royal Marines Commando in 1990, Jim trained as both a diver and parachutist and also supported the Special Boat Service. He saw active service around the world, including the Gulf and Bosnian conflicts.

Jim joined the UK Police in 1996 where he was a Detective and Underwater Search Officer/Supervisor, responsible for various search, salvage and body recovery operations in addition to above-surface police duties.

Since 2006, he has worked in the private dive industry doing salvage and survey work. He is a commercial boat skipper and a well-liked Instructor at the school.


   
 

   
   
 Ross Gallop
   Senior Instructor / Master 5 Skipper

Ross is a former Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diver holding ADAS Parts 1, 2 and 3 and Diving Supervisor commercial diver accreditation.

His 30 years in the RAN included posts at the Submarine Escape Training Facility, as Chief Instructor of the RAN Diving School, on the Joint Incident Response Unit (Bomb Squad) at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, duties with the Special Air Service, and deployment to Guam to instruct foreign defence forces in advanced Explosive Ordnance Disposal techniques.

In addition to his practical knowledge and training skills, Ross holds numerous professional qualifications, including Master Mariners V Certificate and Assistant Life Support Technician.

His extensive experience in commercial diving makes him an invaluable asset to the school. In addition to being a Senior Instructor, Ross works as a Master on TUCF vessels in the Kimberley region.

Ross is currently a serving member of the RAN Standby Reserve.

   
 

   

 Andrew Stocks
   Senior Instructor

Andrew joined the TUCF team as a Senior Instructor in February 2009 with a diverse yet integrative marine career.

He is a trade qualified Blacksmith and coded welder, with specialized skill in structural steel work. He spent five years working in this occupation before enlisting with the Royal Navy as a Weapons Engineer, where he gained qualifications in electronics.

After his discharge, Andy completed a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Marine Zoology at the University of Aberdeen. He went on to work as a fisheries scientist for the Falkland Island Government where he independently collected data for his MSc which he completed at the University of Hull.

Andy holds ADAS Part 2 accreditation, and is an accredited ADAS Part 2 Supervisor and Chamber Operator. He has worked for MScience as a Marine Scientist and Seaforce setting up the companies’ marine science section; Diving Services Marine.

Andrew’s background makes him an exceptional resource of knowledge for students completing commercial diving accreditation through TUCF.

   
 

   
   

 Jon Carroll
   TUCF PSET Supervisor / Senior Instructor

Jon enlisted for over 12 years in the Australian Defence Force, as a Clearance Diver, Supervisor & Assessor, Hazard Risk Assessor, Asset Manager, OHS Supervisor, Senior Work Place Assessor and Equity & Diversity Supervisor. At this time he developed specialist skills as an Explosive Instructor and Manager in Post Blast Analysis.

He has worked as a Commercial Diver and Supervisor, for companies including Back Tech, where his duties included UXO – Unexploded ordinance surveying, verification data dives and dredging operations.

Holding ADAS Part 3 Onshore Supervisor accreditation and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Jon is currently a supervisor on the TUCF PSET team and Senior Dive School Instructor. Much of his diving knowledge and experience has been gained supervising SSBA, working with mixed gases, oxygen and on RCC Surface Decompression exercises.

Jon has worked across the globe in military and non military positions that have delivered numerous challenges and rewards. Notably he was part of The Australian World Cup Rugby Selection Squad and represented Australia as a player for the Australian Barbarians and NSW Waratah’s.

   
 

   
 Declan Tyrrell
   Maintenance Supervisor / Instructor

Declan has 15 years experience in both the commercial & recreational dive industry. He holds current ADAS part 1 and 2 qualifications. He is an accomplished multi franchise service technician and accredited tank tester to Australian Standards.

Certification Declan has attained include his Master class 5, Marine Engine Driver Grade 1, Cert 4 in workplace training & Assessment, Workplace Senior 1st Aid Instructor trainer, SSI Instructor Certifier and City & Guilds certified motor vehicle technician.

Declan started with TUCF in 2003 as a maintenance technician and small boat operator. With his flexible range of skills, he has since filled many roles including, senior fleet engineer for TUCF in the Kimberly. He is now the company’s Maintenance Supervisor and an Instructor. As Maintenance Supervisor, Declan is responsible for administering a programme maintenance system of assets.

   
 

 Amy Lanning
   TUCF PSET water worker / Instructor

Amy is an ADAS Part 3 Diver, Chamber Operator and Trainee ADAS Part 3 Supervisor. Additionally she holds qualifications as a PADI and SSI Recreational Dive Instructor with numerous skills in dive equipment maintenance, underwater photography and first aid. Currently Amy works for TUCF as a Commercial Diving Instructor and PSET Water Worker.

Prior to her commencement with TUCF in January 2009 Amy ran recreational diving courses from an Open Water to Professional level. At her previous position with Perth Diving Academy, her responsibilities included training co-ordination, syllabus structuring and quality assurance review. She started her diving career at the age of sixteen, training Open Water students, developing these skills working and travelling throughout Asia until settling permanently in Australia.

Amy is currently studying towards a BSc in Environmental Science and Project Management at the Open University.

   
 

   
 Charmaine Millar
   Training Administrator

Charmaine Millar joined TUCF in March 2009. She brings to the team 20 years experience in Hospitality, Administration and outstanding sales service skills. Within her role at TUCF she provides administrative support for the diver training program. Although new to her role and the diving industry Charmaine is highly motivated and is developing an excellent understanding of ADAS administration procedures and TUCF operational policies. This makes her an invaluable asset to the company.

In previous positions, Charmaine has assisted in areas of Human Resources and Payroll, working for Corporate Companies and Government Agencies including the City of Bunbury, South West Regional College, Asgard Wealth Creation, Rendezvous Observation City Hotel, Capel Vale Winery and Bull & Bush Restaurant Boyanup. She has a strong background in the administration and clerical work required to assist our students’ needs.

Charmaine holds certificates in Time Management, Sales & Marketing, Customer Service & Telephone Techniques and Effective teamwork.
   
 

 Nicole Gallop
   Administration & Training Assistant

Nicole commenced employment at TUCF in July 2007. She handles a range of activity from accounts assistance to the administration for the range of training courses on offer at TUCF, including course and career enquiries, preparation of course materials, ADAS applications and certifications, as well as general student and instructor support.

Nicole is a qualified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and keen diving enthusiast. She currently completing her Dive Master qualification and is looking forward to undertaking the ADAS Part 1 (Occupational Scuba Diving to 30 metres) course at TUCF in the near future.

Nicole also holds a Senior First Aid certificate with Advanced Resuscitation.

   
 

 Kate McDonald
   Administration Assistant

Kate joined TUCF in May 2010, taking up the role of Administration Assistant. Previously working for Monson Agencies Australia Pty Ltd she comes to TUCF with a range of administration experience.

Kate also has a keen interest in Media completing an Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 course on website design and is now responsible for updates and changes to the company website.
