TUCF’s strong Safety Performance for INPEX

1 July 2008

TUCF has been providing marine and aviation logistical support to Japan’s    biggest gas producer INPEX for over two years. The project has seen many    successes and significant events. As work at the remote Maret Islands site    winds up, let’s look back and see how TUCF’s safety record has measured    up.

Reflective of exponential growth and a safe working culture TUCF has made continual improvements to business practices. They have demonstrated skilled management of complex logistical operations, supporting INPEX in a variety of environmental surveys. A collaborative commitment to high standards was rewarded earlier this year by APPEA, when INPEX won a prestigious industry environmental award.

Safety is a critical indicator of success for companies providing services to the offshore Oil and Gas Industry. During the project 144,802 man hours were logged, equivalent to 17 years in the field. Throughout TUCF maintained an almost unblemished safety record, with only one LTI (lost time injury). An exemplary achievement in what can be a trying and harsh environment.

All other HSE occurrences were kept to a minimum, with 139 recorded incidents and 58 hazards identified. Showing commitment to quality and safety, 107 Safety Drills and 3 Emergency Response Exercises were conducted and successfully tested TUCF emergency procedures and responders.

TUCF Managing Director Ian Milliner has stated “On reflection, there are many good things everyone associated with the Project can be proud about” and that “The safety record was excellent”. So as this project wraps up it can be said that such ingrained safety attitudes will undoubtedly prevail in TUCF operations. They have proven to be dynamic company and are looking forward to future business engagements with both INPEX and other Oil and Gas Corporations.
