A special Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
course (Reference 9/05) for pearl and aquaculture divers has been
arranged to meet industry needs. The combined RPL assessment includes
ADAS Part 1 and Part 2.

In accordance with AS2815.2 and AS/NZS2299.1:1999
• Meet
all RPL prerequisite dive times.
• Hold
a valid certificate of medical fitness to dive.
• Be at
least 18 years of age.
• Be a
competent swimmer.
• Hold
a recognised certificate of recreational diving competence i.e. PADI
Open Water Diver.
• Be able
to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and
fractions, calculate percentages.
• Be able
to solve simple formulas i.e. gas laws.
• Understand
written and verbal communications and be able to communicate with
other persons in
English.
• Hold
a certificate of senior first aid.

The course and assessment covers activities and competencies required
for the training and accreditation of divers who are required to work
safely and competently using surface supplied breathing equipment
to depths of 30 metres in accordance with AS/NZS2299.1:1999. It includes
scuba assessment and training on scuba.
The onshore commercial air diving qualification to 30 metres is a
progressive step from AS 2815.1 (Occupational Scuba Diver) and includes
the use of scuba and surface supported breathing apparatus. This significantly
increases the divers ability to operate under working situations.
It includes the use of welding and cutting equipment, pneumatic and
hydraulic tools, salvage equipment, air and water dredging equipment,
construction tools and other work related subjects to meet onshore
diving industry requirements.

Physics of diving, inspection and maintenance of personal
equipment, pre and post dive checks, open water dives in scuba and
SSBA equipment, diving hazards, application of decompression tables,
diving attendant duties, stand by divers duties, surface team member
duties, seamanship, small boat handling, hand and voice communication.
Underwater work including lifting, search schemes, inspection and
measurement techniques, underwater surveys, hand tools, power tools,
explosive powered tools, hydraulic tools, waterjet and airlift, thermal
cutting techniques, underwater welding, maintenance of underwater
tools, explosives use underwater, compressed air supply, diving panels,
gas cylinder filling, safety precautions, compression chambers, chamber
dive, understanding of therapeutic decompression tables, physiology,
first aid, AS/NZS2299.1:1999, legislation and guidance.
