After
a traditional welcome to country on the Maret Islands yesterday,
the Uunguu people and INPEX executives signed
documents to progress an agreement in relation
to a world’s best practice LNG plant on the Maret Islands...and TUCF was there!
It has taken more than two years for all the parties to agree
to negotiate about the prospect of a liquefied natural gas (LNG)
plant being built on the islands. The plant would be part of
an LNG project which has a capital cost in excess of $10 billion.
TUCF has been providing logistic support for INPEX who have
been conducting a detailed Environmental Impact Assessment of
the area.
Mr Sean Kildare, Group Manager External Affairs, on behalf of
INPEX commented after the event that “The care and attention
that you [TUCF] applied to the whole exercise is commendable
and represented a significant contribution to the overall success
of the event.”
On the day TUCF assisted by coordinating 50 flights including
helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, meals and accommodation
for up to 64 people. This was completed safely in one the remotest
parts of Australia.
