The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA)
is the international trade association representing offshore, marine
and underwater engineering companies.
It was formed in April 1995 from the amalgamation of AODC (the International
Association of Offshore Diving Contractors) and DPVOA (the Dynamic
Positioning Vessel Owners Association).
IMCA seeks to promote its members' common interests, resolve industry-wide
issues and provide a single authoritative voice for its members.
The Underwater Centre Fremantle has joined IMCA's "Diving Division"
as a Training Establishment (S*). IMCA's Diving Division promotes
safe practice in the offshore diving industry. This division covers
all aspects of equipment, operations and personnel related to offshore
diving operations (including atmospheric diving systems).
Commenting on the decision to join IMCA, TUCF Managing Director Ian
Milliner stressed the importance of maintaining currency with the
latest developments in offshore diving equipment, operations and safety
practices. He said, "in addition to Australian regulators and
staff with recent offshore experience, IMCA gives us a global database
of experience to draw upon ensuring TUCF's training programmes are
keeping pace with industry needs."
