Ian Milliner - Managing Director, TUCF

   

Ian was formally the National Manager of the National Association of Scuba Diving Schools Australasia Inc (NASDS), a position which he held for 8 years. He is a former Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diver holding ADAS Parts 1, 2 and 3 commercial diver and supervisor accreditation. A summary of his key diving qualifications include:

•  Diploma Occupational Diving - Dive Trainer, Advanced Underwater Work to 50 metres,     ADAS (80447ACT)
•  Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training
•  NASDS Open Water Instructor Trainer (AUST)
•  NASDS Open Water Instructor Trainer (USA)
•  PADI Instructor Development Course Staff Instructor
•  RAN Scuba Air Supervisor
•  ADAS Endorsed Chamber Operator
•  ADAS Endorsed Nitrox Diver
•  ADAS Dive Medical Technician
•  DSI Technical Service Technician
•  St Johns Ambulance Occupational First Aid
•  PADI Medic First Aid Instructor

As a naval clearance diver Ian was posted to various ships and operational diving teams. He also saw three years service as a Clearance Diver with the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) in various operational capacities. Ian is currently a member of the RAN standby reserve.

In 1986/87 Ian was the co-owner/operator of 9.2 metre charter vessel licensed for diving charters.

Appointed to the position of National Manager of NASDS Australasia (Formally the Federation of Australian Underwater Instructors FAUI) in November 1987, Ian was responsible to the membership for all aspects of the association’s administration, promotion, product development, business growth and communication.

He has been the Managing Director and training manager at TUCF since its inception in 1996.

Ian held a number of senior industry administrative positions concurrent to his work. These include:

•  Secretary of the Australia Scuba Council (1988/91) an industry representative body     comprising members of key industry participants. (Re-appointed Secretary 1994/95).
•  Secretary of the National Scuba Qualification Commission (1991 to 1993) an industry     representative body comprising members of key industry groups, with the special task     of administering the Federal Government sponsored National Coaching Accreditation     Scheme. Re-appointed Secretary of the NSQC in June 1994.
•  Secretary of the WA Branch of the Clearance Diving Association 1991/93.
•  Member, Boating Industry Association (BIA), Boat Show Sub Committee, responsible     for the Diving Industry’s participation 95 & 96 Perth Boat Shows.
•  Member of the Maritime Archaeology Advisory Committee of the Western Australian     Maritime Museum, a committee responsible for advising the Maritime Museum Board     on matters relating maritime archaeology.

Recent career highlights include:

•  Conduct of ADAS Part 1, 2, 3, and mixed gas diving to 90 metre training for the Royal     Malaysian Navy, Lumut Malaysia (2005 - ).
•  Conduct of ADAS diver training for the WA Police Force (Award for Excellence in     Training) (October 2004).
•  Conduct of Audit of Mscience Pty Ltd on behalf of Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd (March 2004)
•  Conduct of Audit of the Geraldton Port Authority diving systems and diving team     (December 2003).
•  Consultancy services for the WA Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR),     reviewing Diving Safety Management Systems (June/July 2003).
•  Production of Diving Safety Management Systems in accordance with the new PSL     (Diving Safety) Regulations 2002, For Covus Corporation, Allied Diving Services,     Territory Diving Services (January to September 2003) and Pacific Marine Group (July     2005).
•  Conduct of Chamber Operator Training for “MY Aussie Rules”, Greg Norman's new     motor yacht, October 2002.
•  Conduct of Seaeye 600DT ROV training program, PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara,     Sumbawa Indonesia, December 2001
•  Conduct of diver training program, PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara, Sumbawa Indonesia,     January 2001
