Glenn is currently Master of the MV NW Fortescue, which operates
primarily in the Kimberley region, and was elected by the Marine Division
workforce to represent them in health and safety matters. Barry is
the company’s Maintenance Supervisor and a Senior Instructor
at TUCF’s commercial diver training school in North Fremantle.
He will stand for the employees of the Diver Training Division.
TUCF QHSE Manager, Peter Hill, explained that the main role of the
HSRs is to bring matters of safety to the attention of management
on behalf of all TUCF personnel. “They will also participate
in audits and investigations and have full access to relevant reports.”
Glenn and Barry are proactive employees with considerable knowledge
of health and safety issues gained during many years working in the
marine industry. They will undergo an intensive workshop and training
day at the TUCF Safety Conference to be held in Broome in January
2008.
The HSR election was held by secret ballot using a preferential voting
system. Mr Hill said the results indicated a high level of respect
between colleagues and “are further evidence of TUCF’s
ingrained safety culture.”
Congratulations to Glenn and Barry on behalf of their colleagues and
the TUCF Management Team.
