 Course Details

•  Duration  
    6 Days for qualified ADAS Part 1 divers or above.
    9 Days for non-divers.

•  Location
    Theory – The Underwater Centre Fremantle.
    Practical – The Underwater Centre Fremantle.

•  Minimum Number - 3.

•  Maximum Number - 6.

•  Price - AUD$3,750.00 for qualified divers. AUD$4,300.00 for non-divers.

•  Deposit - An AUD$430.00 deposit is required 30 days prior to the commencement date     to confirm a position on this course.

 Selection Creteria

In accordance with AS2815.1 and AS/NZS2299.1:1999

Non-Divers (i.e. does not hold an ADAS Part 1 qualification or higher)

•  Hold a valid certificate of medical fitness to dive.
•  Be at least 18 years of age.
•  Hold a certificate of senior first aid.
•  Hold a current O2 administration certificate (i.e. St Johns Advance Resuscitation).

Divers
•  Hold a current ADAS Part 1 certificate or higher.
•  Hold a valid certificate of medical fitness to dive.
•  Hold a certificate of senior first aid.
•  Hold a current O2 administration certificate (i.e. St Johns Advance Resuscitation).

 Course Synopsis

The Chamber Operator course is a stand-alone program for divers or non-divers. However, it is normally incorporated in the ADAS Part 3 course. The program includes the operation and maintenance of decompression chambers.

 Course Overview

Divers

Duties of chamber personnel, chambers design types, features, plumbing, standards, fire suppression and operating perimeters. Medical kits, BIB's systems, oxygen cleaning and fire risks. Gas supplies, compressors and filtration.

Chamber operations, venting, chamber abort, rapid decompression. Maintaining depths and flushing. Setting descent and ascent rate. Prep chamber (use of check list), chamber shutdown (check list). Transfer under pressure. Use of medical lock. Run chamber shut down.

Run surface decompression drills and therapeutic treatment tables. Contra-indications of treatment and possible complications.

Non-Divers

In addition to the above, non-divers will also cover; Boyle's Law and how it applies to barotrauma of descent & barotrauma of ascent. Henry's Law and how it applies to decompression sickness. Dalton's Law and how it applies to gas toxicity CO, CO2, O2, N2. Charle's Law and how it applies to hypothermia, hyperthermia. Related topics dysaberic osteoncrosis, legislation, and standard air decompression tables.

 Course Standards

The course meets the requirements of the Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme (ADAS).
