The Chamber Operator course is a stand-alone program
for divers or non-divers. However, it is normally incorporated in
the ADAS Part 3 course. The program includes the operation and maintenance
of decompression chambers.
Divers
Duties of chamber personnel, chambers design types, features, plumbing,
standards, fire suppression and operating perimeters. Medical kits,
BIB's systems, oxygen cleaning and fire risks. Gas supplies, compressors
and filtration.
Chamber operations, venting, chamber abort, rapid decompression. Maintaining
depths and flushing. Setting descent and ascent rate. Prep chamber
(use of check list), chamber shutdown (check list). Transfer under
pressure. Use of medical lock. Run chamber shut down.
Run surface decompression drills and therapeutic treatment tables.
Contra-indications of treatment and possible complications.
Non-Divers
In addition to the above, non-divers will also cover; Boyle's Law
and how it applies to barotrauma of descent & barotrauma of ascent.
Henry's Law and how it applies to decompression sickness. Dalton's
Law and how it applies to gas toxicity CO, CO2, O2, N2. Charle's Law
and how it applies to hypothermia, hyperthermia. Related topics dysaberic
osteoncrosis, legislation, and standard air decompression tables.
The course meets the requirements of the Australian Diver Accreditation
Scheme (ADAS)(Perform Compression Chamber Operations). National Qualification
