TEST is an acronym for TUCF’s Essential Safety Tools, a set
of eight safety requirements. Every job, activity or task must satisfy
the safety requirement before it can proceed, and more than one TEST
may apply.
The individual tests are:
1. Permit to Work;
2. Confined Space Entry;
3. Electrical Isolation;
4. Working at Heights;
5. Ground Disturbance;
6. Lifting Operations;
7. Driving Safety; and
8. Management of Change.
QHSE Manager, Peter Hill, emphasised the importance of the TEST initiative.
He said industry research indicated over 50% of incidents in recent
years would have been prevented if TEST equivalents were applied.
Mr Hill declared TUCF’s Safety Goal for the year is zero accidents
and incidents.
Every TUCF staff member must familiarise themselves with the fundamental
principles of TEST in order to recognise when it applies to your operation.
Please look out for the posters at every TUCF worksite and remember
to always apply the TEST.
