The occupational scuba diving qualification to 30 metres is the first level of accreditation as a commercial diver and is ideally suited to marine archaologists, research divers, media, aquaculture divers and inspection engineers.

 Course Details

•  Duration - 4 weeks

•  Minimum Number - 5

•  Maximum Number - 12

•  Price - AUD$6,930.00

•  
Deposit - A deposit of AUD$1040.00 is required to confirm a position on this course.

•  Inclusions - Price includes wetsuit and snorkeling gear (yours to keep),     text books, all diving equipment for the duration of the course, two nights     meals and accommodation (Collie), and all certification fees (ADAS fees are     AUD$300.00).

 Deposits & Fee Payments

A 15% deposit is required to confirm a course booking. The balance of all course fees will need to be paid in full by 30 days prior to the Course commencement. Once you book onto a course that is the course you must undertake or risk forfeiting your deposit.

PLEASE NOTE that your deposit is non refundable and non transferable unless you have a medical reason or in other exceptional circumstances. If you cannot commence the course please give us as much notice as possible to avoid further administration charges.

If a student fails to pay all specified outstanding Course fees to TUCF by the due date (30 days prior to Course commencement), the student will forfeit all monies paid, along with their place on the Course. If a student is experiencing difficulties meeting this requirement, they are to contact TUCF prior to the 30 day deadline.

  Selection Criteria

In accordance with AS2815.1 and AS/NZS2299.1:2007;

•  Hold a valid certificate of medical fitness to dive.

•  Be at least 18 years of age.

•  Be a competent swimmer.

•  Hold a recognised certificate of recreational diving competence (e.g. PADI Open Water     Diver).

•  Be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions,     and calculate percentages.

•  Be able to solve simple formulas (e.g. gas laws).

•  Understand written and verbal communications and be able to communicate with other     persons in English.

•  Hold a Nationally Accredited certificate of Senior First Aid completed within the last 12     months. (National Competence Unit Number HLTFA301B)

 Be able to provide Photo Identification (i.e. drivers licence or passport)

 Course Synopsis

The course covers activities and competencies required for the training and accreditation of divers who are required to work safely and competently using scuba to depths of 30 metres in accordance with AS/NZS2299.1:2007.

 Course Overview

The occupational scuba diving qualification to 30 metres is the first level of accreditation as a commercial diver and is ideally suited to marine archaeologists, research divers, media, aquaculture divers and inspection engineers.

The qualification limits the diver to using small hand tools or conducting inspections in no decompression dives with direct access to the surface. The diver cannot operate large surface controlled power tools, or dive in operations where the use of cranes, air lifts or winches is required.

 Course Standards

The course meets the requirements of:


•  ADAS Part 1 - Air Diving with Scuba.

•  AS2815.1 - Scuba Diving to 30 metres.

•  HSE Part IV - Scuba Diving to 30 metres.

•  Certificate IV in Occupational Diving (Scuba Underwater Work to 30 metres).
    National Qualification Code 80431.

 Subjects Covered

Physics of diving, inspection and maintenance of personal equipment, pre and post dive checks, open water dives in SCUBA, diving hazards, application of decompression tables, diving attendant duties, standby divers duties, seamanship, hand and voice communication, underwater work, compressed air supply, compression chambers, emergencies, physiology, first aid, AS/NZS2299, legislation and guidance.
